Legislative Advocacy –In 2005, we led efforts to pass the law requiring all schools to open after Labor Day. When special interests tried to repeal that law in December of 2009, we stopped them in their tracks. In 2008, we helped pass a law that provided $30 million in tourism promotion funding for the state's 2009 fiscal year. This year, we fought for and won $15 million for Pure Michigan, in spite of the State having a $3 billion budget deficit! Now we must fight to make funding levels of $30M permanent. Heads fall in beds when we work together to grow rural, urban, resort and cultural travel and tourism. Your membership makes these efforts stronger!
